as in you wanted the combat to have been in an arena, with a targeting dome and an atb counter. When you say gameplay you specifically meant the combat. PE2 plays more like Resident Evil (or if you need leveling, spells, MP, its cousin Onimusha). It doesn't play like Final Fantasy or any kind of hybrid like the first game did with elements of the ATB system. I am talking about the gameplay, as in how you play the game. The second game plays like any other 3D action game. Whereas the first game is a hybrid with elements of RPG gameplay and action gameplay. The gameplay is like that of an action game. I am specifically talking about the gameplay. The Parasite Eve series came out before any of these, and in particular, before Baldur's Gate. The concept of a series that had every single entry as a separate story, rather than one long plot with different installments, was pioneered by the Monkey Island series, which in turn has inspired most games such as Baldur's Gate, the Sam and Max series, as well as most of the titles in the Star Wars: X-wing series. It would be a mistake to make this a series of video games with a single great entry, because that would not do justice to the series at all. It came out first in Japan, but was released in the West with the original subtitle of "The Parasite Eve, For The Sony Playstation". The Parasite Eve series is widely considered to be a video game masterpiece, and it certainly belongs in history books.
